How it works

The International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) is a yearly contest for the most innovative and creative mobile games in the world.
The objective of the IMGA is to create an exciting set of awards to recognize the world's most talented mobile game developers, whether they are from professional studios, universities or even back bedrooms!

 

Entry

Entry can only be effected on line (SEE ALSO TERMS AND CONDITIONS)

Every participant needs to provide the information requested on the entry form and agree to the Terms and Conditions. You can upload support material and/or links to documentation material available on websites. We strongly advise participants NOT to upload too many different items; the Jury only has a maximum of 10 minutes to review your entry. The best entry consists of a completed entry form, three good screenshots, a video and a power point presentation outlining the strengths of the entry.

Entry Fees

The Competition is free. There are no Entry Fees.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to everybody, both legal entities and individuals, with the exception of the employees of the Organizer, their immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and/or household members and any individuals or legal entities registered in Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan and/or Myanmar may not participate in the Competition.

Voting

The Jury votes for the different entries according to a set of criteria, including innovation and technical achievement, commercial potential and personal taste. The individual results of the voting process will not be disclosed. All decisions by the Jury are made unanimously.

Jury

The Jury consists of international specialists in mobile communication and entertainment. Professionals from the hard and software industry, suppliers of technical services, handset manufacturers, mobile operators, distributors, publishers, aggregators, journalists, analysts and marketers.

Judging

The Jury will get access to all the entries sent in by the participants. In a first round of judging, the nominees in each category will be selected, a total of 25. Before the second round of judging, the 25 nominees will be asked to send their game pre-installed on a handset. In this second round, the winners in each category will be selected and out of the five category winners, the Grand Prix Winner will be selected.

A panel of operators will select the Operators’ Choice Award Winner out of the 25 nominated games and the People’s Choice Award is the result of on-line voting.

Winners

The Organizer will contact the winning Participants, if any, within 60 days of the jury’s decision. The winners will receive official banners and certificates they can use for marketing purposes.

Excellence in Design

This category is for Games with an exceptional attention to visual quality.

Excellence in Connectivity

This category is for Mobile Multiplayer Games, Cross Platform Games or Trans Media games.

Excellence in Game Play

Any mobile game that is providing an innovation in the way the mobile game is played and that has succeeded in providing an excellent mobile gaming experience. This includes genre-busting concepts which create a new category of game content on mobile.

Best Casual Game

The excellence of the game can be found in:

  • Innovation in terms of game-play
  • Accessibility of the game for a mass-market audience
  • Any innovation in other aspects of the game including artwork, level design, etc.
  • Technical realization of the game
  • How quickly can you get into the game

Best Real World Game

  • We are looking for mobile games that make people get up and go, move, meet new friends and get into new unexpected situations with other players outdoors and indoors.
  • This Award honors the games that make exceptional effective use of the "mobility" aspect of a mobile game. This includes (but is not necessarily limited to) location-based games using GPS, proximity-based games using Bluetooth to detect nearby players, augmented-reality games, or alternate reality games that blend with the player's real world.
