The International Mobile Gaming Awards unveils winners at Mobile World Congress 2011
Barcelona,17 February 2011–The highly anticipated results of the 7th Annual International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) were announced today to a packed audience at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The five nominees in each of the six categories had been waiting since 17 January, when the nominations were announced, to find out who would be the ultimate winner. The winning games were selected by an international jury of experts, which reviewed a total of 260 games from 40 countries.

BARCELONA, 15 February. Labyrinth 2 of the Swedish studio Illusion Labs was awarded the Grand Prix at this year’s IMGA, the largest mobile games competition in the world.
Ulrike and Eamon Compliant of Blast Theory from the United Kingdom was named Best Real World App, Studio FungFung from United Kingdom received the Excellence in Appplay Award with Minisquadron, Sniper vs Sniper on line of Com2uS from South Korea won the Excellence in Connectivity Award, James Brown from New Zealand walked away with the Excellence in Design Award for his title Ancient Frog Jr. Wire Way, developed by NowProduction and published by Konami Digital Entertainment was awarded Best Casual App.

8 Winning Mobile Apps announced at the 5th International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona BARCELONA, 18 February, 2009. FastFoot-Challenge by Urban Team from Germany was named Best Real World App, Mobigame from France received the Excellence in Appplay Award with EDGE, Real Racing by Firemint from Australia won the Excellence in Connectivity Award, Secret Exit from Finland walked away with the Excellence in 3D Award for their title Zen Bound. Tropical Towers by Real Arcade from Finland was awarded Best Casual App.
The People’s Choice Award, chosen via on-line voting on www.imgawards.com went to Digital Legends from Spain with the title KROLL and a panel of Mobile Operators, representing Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile, selected EDGE by Mobigame from France who therefore received the Operators’ Choice Award. The Jury decided that all this year's winning Category entries were of such a high standard that they all merited a Grand Prix. In addition, the exceptional innovation displayed in Kodo Evolved deserved an Innovation Award. As a result, this year the Jury has decided that the Grand Prix will be divided equally between the five Category winners and the winner of the Innovation Award. Mark Ollila, Head of Apps Publishing at Nokia commented: « This year we have seen many exciting nominees for the IMG Awards in each category, offering groundbreaking ideas and cutting edge concepts to mobile gaming. THE MOST INNOVATIVE GAMES IN THE WORLD: WINNERS OF THE INTERNATONAL MOBILE GAMING AWARDS ANNOUNCED
400 developers from 42 countries compete for $40,000 in prizes in five categories
Barcelona – WEDNESDAY, 13 FEBRUARY 2008 – On Monday night, the International Mobile Gaming Awards, the largest competition for mobile games in the world, announced this year’s winners at a crowded awards ceremony at GSMA’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. A jury of specialists from Japan, US and Europe selected the winners out of the 25 nominees from the US, China, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, India, UK, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Spain, Poland, Sweden and Australia.
The Best Casual App Award went to ‘Treasure Arm’, produced by Tequila Mobile from Poland, and ‘Furby Island’, produced by LemonQuest from Spain, won the Best Licensed IP-Based App Award. The Excellence in 3D Award went to Digital Legends in Spain for ‘ONE’, Jadestone from Finland received the Excellence in Appplay Award for ‘Dirk Dagger and the Fallen Idol’ and the IMGA Jury decided not to hand out the Excellence in Connectivity Award this year.
The US$ 15,000 Grand Prix went to Ideaworks3D from the UK with ‘Metal Gear Solid Mobile’, published by Konami.
The IMGA launched two new awards this year: the Operator’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award.
The Operators Choice Award, selected by a jury of mobile operators from the 25 nominated games, went to the Grand Prix winner, Ideaworks3D with ‘Metal Gear Solid Mobile’, published by Konami..
The People’s Choice Award was handed over to Firemint from Australia with the game ‘WRC’ (‘World Rally Championship’). This was the result of a ‘Web and Wap’ public vote.

INTERNATIONAL MOBILE GAMING AWARDS – BARCELONA – TUESDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2007 – The Jury of the International Mobile Gaming Awards picked 6 winners out of the 26 nominees from the US, China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, India, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, Spain, Poland, Sweden and Australia. The 2006 edition presented a new breed of games never presented before: outdoor, location based gaming, high-end 3D, Massive Multiplayer Mobile Apps, Mobile-to-PC and Mobile-to-TV games and games using all the features of the new generation of mobile devices including connectivity, camera and microphone. These avant-garde games are paving the way for tomorrow’s mobile entertainment, and they were brought into the spotlight last Wednesday at a crowded Fira Palace Hotel, in front of the press and hundreds of industry representatives.
TNO, the largest research institute in the Netherlands, with 4000 professionals in many disciplines, received the US $15,000 Grand Prix Award and the US$ 5,000 Most Innovative App Award for its game Triangler, an outdoor, Mobile Multiplayer game using GPS. IKS Mobile from Poland walked away with the $ 5,000 Best Use of Flash Award with Crazy Matches, while the Australia based studio Firemint was awarded the $ 5,000 Excellence in 3D Award with Mega Monster. The $ 5,000 Best Interactive Experience Award was collected by SuperHappyFunFun from the USA with 3DTiltAWorld and Anino Mobile received the $ 5,000 Best Use of Connectivity Award with the multiplayer game Anima Wars.
In addition to the prizes, each of the winners will be supported by the coalition of IMGA sponsors Adobe, Movida, Nokia, Nvidia, Orange, Texas Instruments and co-sponsors Auchan Télécom, Belle-de-Mai Media Park Marseille and Vivendi Apps Mobile to bring their games to market.

STUDENT KNOCKS OUT PRO-DEVELOPERS TO WIN INTERNATIONAL MOBILE GAMING AWARDS IN BARCELONA
AR Tennis, 3D World Warriors and Monkey Pole Climb win at the International Mobile Gaming Awards 2006 Grand Finale
INTERNATIONAL MOBILE GAMING AWARDS – BARCELONA – WEDNESDAY 15 FEBRUARY 2006 – Swedish PhD student Anders Henrysson scored a straight set victory at the International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) last night in Barcelona, beating 170 developers to win both the US $10,000 Grand Prix Award and US $2,500 Best Technical Achievement Award for his innovative mobile game ‘AR Tennis’. UK based independent developer Paul Carruther’s game ‘Monkey Pole Climb’ collected the US $2,500 Best Appplay while Chinese developer VAKA Technologies was awarded the US $2,500 Best Artwork prize for its game ‘3D World Warriors’. Each will be supported by the coalition of IMGA sponsors NVIDIA, Alias, Nokia, Orange, Auchan and Belle-de-Mai Media Park in Marseille to bring their games to market and will be given publishing deals with a major game publisher.

In February 2004 a Canadian company called Discreet (now Autodesk) launched the 3D Mobile Gaming Awards at the IMAGINA festival in Monte Carlo. The project was supported by a number of illustrious companies including Nokia, NVIDIA, Orange, Intel, IBM, In-Fusio, Criterion, Fathammer, Kaolink, Ideaworks3D, Turbosquid and Euromediterrannée.
The 3D Mobile Gaming Contest received 102 3D Mobile App projects, coming from 36 countries, including India, US, UK, Germany, Russia, China, France, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Argentina, Australia and Canada. 31 projects were submitted to the ‘Less than 200K / Java’ category; 9 projects to the ‘Less than 200K / Native’ category; 43 projects to the ‘16Meg’ category; 19 projects to the ‘1Meg’ category.
The Jury was composed of 17 major players in Mobile Gaming: Stephane Vergnères (EGE product manager, In-Fusio), Dimitry Granovsky (EMEA Manager – university & studio relation, NVIDIA), Steffen Steafert (European game evangelist, IBM), Dan Keegan (worldwide Mobile App Manager, Orange), David Nahmani (worldwide developer program manager, Orange), Erwan Moysan (Mobile App Consultant), Vagué Ludinard (Product Manager, Kaolink), Jani Karlsson (Forum Nokia manager), Maarten Noyons (Consultant, NCC), John Chasey (General Manager, IOMO), Ville Vatten (X-Forge Product Manager, Fathammer), Jon Jordan (Develop and Edge journalist, UK), Stuart O’Brien (Mobile Entertainment Magazine, journalist, UK), Matthias Lange (chief editor, Creative Live, Germany), Bertrand Audouy (Mobile Business magazine & Mobile magazine journalist, France), Carsten Kisslat (Head of Design, Elkware).
14 games were nominated.
GRAND PRIX Only one prize was handed out, the Grand Prix. It went to a 3D mobile game called BURT, created by a French studio called EXKEE. “Burt works for a secret governmental organization that carries out operations all over the world. When danger levels are extreme and the only solution is to rush straight in without thinking, only one man answers present: Burt! Enjoy the simple but pure sensations of this action game.”
