about the awards The International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) is a yearly contest for the most innovative and creative mobile games in the world.
The objective of the IMGA is to create an exciting set of awards to recognize the world's most talented mobile game developers, whether they are from professional studios, universities or even back bedrooms!

Every company involved with the IMGA is a leader in their own field, whether they are a handset manufacturer, network provider, publisher, retailer or specialized Business centre.
These companies have come together to promote the development of rich content for mobile devices for the simple reason that it will become one of the most important growth drivers for mobile multimedia in the coming years.
The formation of the global portal - www.imgawards.com as a focal point for all IMGA activities including regular updates on the competition will be found here. All of the IMGA submissions will be made through the global portal.
how
does it work? The contest will be officially launched on June 16th 2008. All game developers wishing to participate are asked to read through the How to Participate section before submitting their entry. Submission can be done by using the online submission form. Developers can update their submission as many times as they want until the deadline.
All entries need to be received before Monday September 22th, 2008 at 6pm CET (Central European Time). An international jury will select the nominees.
The nominated projects will be announced on the IMGA website by the 10th of October 2008. These nominated entrants will need to submit a playable version before January 31st 2009. IMGA's Technical partners and sponsors will provide phones from Nokia and services to the nominees if requested.
The jury will meet for a second time on 15th February to select 6 winners. The awards will be handed out on the 18th February at 5 PM.

Excellence in Connectivity. This category is for Mobile Multiplayer Games and Cross Platform Games.
i. A Mobile Multiplayer Game is a mobile game in which more than one person can play the same game at the same time, all using mobile phones or playing in multiplayer games, players either all compete against each other, or team up to achieve a common goal such as defeating an enemy that can consist of either computer or human players. Multiplayer games can also consist of a virtual world in which players can collaborate and fulfill a task or multiple tasks together or just live their virtual lives.
ii. A Cross Platform Game is a mobile game that allows players to use their mobile to connect with the game experience through other devices. This includes games that allow PC, console or TV Set-Top-Box users as well as mobile users to participate in the same shared game experience. The specific game play may vary between devices, provided that players can interact in some way regardless of the device used at that time. For example, a MMORPG which used the mobile phone to allow players to build goods and chat; or a Chess Game which allows players to match-make and find other players of the same skill regardless of the device they are using.
Excellence in 3D: Any innovative game that is using 3D graphics. The excellence of the game can be found in:
i. Technical realization of the game, including the size of the game in relation to the quality of the images,
ii. A new way of using 3D features in the Game Play,
iii. Any innovation in other aspects of the game including artwork, level design, etc.
Excellence in Game Play: Any mobile game that is providing an innovation in the way the mobile game is played and that has succeeded in providing an excellent mobile gaming experience. This includes genre-busting concepts which create a new category of game content on mobile.
Best Casual Game: A casual mobile game using Flash or Java, The excellence of the game can be found in:
i. Innovation in terms of game-play
ii. Accessibility of the game for a mass-market audience
iii. Any innovation in other aspects of the game including artwork, level design, etc.
iv. Technical realization of the game,
v. How quickly can you get into the game
Best Real World Game
i. We are looking for mobile games that make people get up and go, move, meet new friends and get into new unexpected situations with other players outdoors and indoors.
ii. This Award honors the games that make exceptional effective use of the "mobility" aspect of a mobile game. This includes (but is not necessarily limited to) location-based games using GPS, proximity-based games using Bluetooth to detect nearby players, augmented-reality games, or alternate reality games that blend with the player's real world.
The winners will receive a cash prize, Phones from Nokia and the chance to get a contract with an operator and a publisher to market the title. The IMGA will truly help to make mobile game developers' dreams a reality!

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the online subscription form on www.imgawards.com. And send us your game. If you have any questions send us an e-mail. Your entry need not be hard code - a well articulated concept, with at least three illustrations and a video is sufficient - just ensure that the judges can get a good feel for the title from your submission.
