Q : Why is your company involved in mobile Gaming?
A : Mobile phone game development offers some unique challenges and rewards. Games have to work across a huge number of different handsets, so that presents some very demanding technical issues. There's a wide variety of form factors and controls, so you can't make too many assumptions about those, or about the circumstances in which your game will be played. It all means a strong focus on game design and the opportunity to break some exciting new ground. We also tend to work in smaller teams than other platforms, so you don't get lost in the sort of huge impersonal teams that work on some next-gen console titles, for example.
Q : Why is your company an IMGA partner?
A : The mobile games industry is relatively new, and what we do with mobile now will impact the shape of things to come in the future. As an industry, we are still exploring where the value for consumers comes from, and we need experimentation and innovation to ensure the future success of the platform. The International Mobile Gaming Awards are an important initiative to help foster innovation. Firemint is keen to support the awards and any other initiatives that can help create a thriving and creative mobile content market. If consumers can experience something unique and compelling, the whole industry will benefit.
