4Wheelers, IMGA MENA Best Multiplayer Game (with a damn good design too!)

4wheelers
4Wheelers is an online, multiplayer, turn-based racing game with a touch of low poly design.

This is an interview with Mohammadreza Hassanzadeh from Ordibehesht Studios.

4wheelers won the 2nd IMGA MENA Best Multiplayer Game Award.

Can you introduce yourself?

I’m Mohammadreza Hassanzadeh, co-founder and team leader of Ordibehesht Studio. Ordibehesht Studio is a group or maybe a family of energetic and passionate game-lovers. We want to create joy and happiness for all people where ever they live and whatever their language.

For those who don’t know 4wheelers, can you give us one sentence to describe your game?
4Wheelers is an online, multiplayer, turn-based racing game. (Yes it’s true, Turn-based racing game).

What makes your game unique?
Turn-Based racing, our game is a combination of turn-based and racing games with a touch of low-poly art and simplicity.

Now about you and your team: what’s the story behind your studio’s creation?
Well, I was in the last semester and working in one of our university’s robotics labs (NAO). Then, I had been thinking about applying for graduate studies abroad, when one of my friends suggested we make a mobile game. Since I love designing games and gaming, I accepted immediately. Following that, we started to find teammates and I met Masud & Behnam. Our first game was Starla. But we never finished it because it was a too big for us at the time. After that, we worked on our game Zoobi. Zoobi had a lot for us. We found other teammates and figured out how to make games.

The design is delightful, the game is relaxing and fun in the meantime. What inspired you?
There is a lot but the most recent inspiration was “Don’t Starve”.

How do you feel about winning an IMGA award? Tell us about your victory.
It’s really awesome for us and thanks to Ordibehesht Studio Family. It’s really fantastic to have a victory the first time we attended a festival.

Any new game or project coming out in the next months? Anything else you would like to say to the world?
In the next month, we will release our new game Kalamatic. It’s a word puzzle game with Persian words.

I want to appreciate my family (Ordibehesht Studio) because they work hard without any investment. Moreover, we believe we will defeat all problems like sanctions. Iranian investors don’t invest on game development teams because they don’t know the game market. And foreign investors don’t invest because of sanctions.

At last, I want to thank Dr. Morteza Mousakhani, President of Qazvin Azad University. We couldn’t be here if he hadn’t helped us.

Thanks a lot!
