Donut County is the game we’re discussing today :). The game has been nominated for the 15th IMGA Global competition! We asked Jeff Legaspi the questions we ask our nominees to give the fans/voters and all people interested in the IMGA the developers perspective.
Donut County is a silly physics puzzle game where you play as a hole in theground, growing a bit each time you swallow something. The puzzles in Donut County are all connected to the world and what it means to throw people’s stuff in the hole. If you put a campfire in the hole, the hole catches on fire. If you drop an ear of corn inside, popcorn will come shooting out. On top of that, the residents of Donut County are all mad at you for putting them 999ft underground…
Donut County is a labor of love created mostly by one developer over 5 years. Lots of thought and care was put in to make sure each moment of the game is funny, poignant, and surprising, never outstaying its welcome. In spite of numerous clones, Donut County stands apart as an example that the best games are made with heart.
Find the game summed up in the trailer below (just in case you’re wondering what the game is about :p):
