South American games studios meet in Montevideo

South American games studios meet in Montevideo

Latin America is one the regions with the highest growth projection for gaming companies.

Our partner Gamelab Conference wants to build a bridge that allows better understanding and business opportunities between local and international companies.

Since its first edition back in 2005, Gamelab has grown to become one of the top games conferences in Europe. The last edition of Gamelab, taking place in Barcelona (Spain) got together close to 1.000 Spanish and European games professionals, 500 games companies and a world class lineup of speakers that included names such as TangoWorks Shinji MIkami, Prince of Persia Jordan Mechner, Grasshopper Manufacture Goichi Suda, Fulbright Company Steve Gaynor, Vlambeer Rami Ismali, TheVoid founder Ken Bretschneider or Pacman creator Toru Iwatani, just to mention a few.

Now that not only the Spanish but also the Latin American games industry and market seem to be awakening (Gaming revenues in Latin America were projected to reach $3.3 billion, or a 4% share of the worldwide total, with 185 million gamers), Gamelab will extend its activities and have shows at both sides of the Atlantic.

The first Gamelab event in Latin America will take place in Montevideo (Uruguay) on December 8th, 2015 featuring global companies like Samsung, Google, EA or Rovio, and keynote speakers such as the father of Games Workshop and the Tomb Raider Saga, Ian Livingstone; the creator of Eido’s Commandos, Gonzo Suarez and the legendary designer of the Broken Sword series, Charles Cecil.

Gamelab Montevideo will also present talks and panel discussions of some of the most influential Latin American developers and entrepreneurs including Etermax’s (Trivia Crack) Max Cavazzani, Ironhide (Kingdom Rush) Alvaro Azofra, WeWantToKnow (Dragon Box) Gonzalo Frasca, Joju Games Juan Gril, Batovi Games Fernando Sansberro, Ludomancy Daniel Benmergui, Playspace Alfonso Villar or Okam Studio Martina Santoro, among others.
