The judging session in Marseille is around the corner: 2 more weeks before we choose the nominated games and select the categories. Our jury members will meet on 25-26 January in sunny Marseille, South of France. As you can imagine, the judging session is the most exciting part of our event: we meet, we debate, we fight and of course we play to select the best games. It is also challenging and intense, since we need to select 80-90 games out of +1000 entries in 48 hours!
See what happened during the judging session in 2015:
And what’s new for 2016?
– We have introduced a new category for Virtual Reality (VR) games on mobile platforms including the Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard.
– This year, we have 150 unpublished games on different platforms. We are excited to see what new games and technologies are emerging for 2016!
– Our jury rocks! We have invited experts like Daniel Gray, Head of Studio at Ustwo. Last year, Dan and his team won the 11th IMGA Grand Prix for Monument Valley. This year, he will come back as a jury member.
Tommy Krul (founder of Super Evil Megacorp) is another inspiring winner of the 11th IMGA. His first game, Vainglory, was featured during Apple’s iPhone 6 keynote event. On the journalists’ side, we have Alysia Judge (editor at AppSy), Dan Pearson (GamesIndustry), Mike Minotti (GamesBeat), and Peter Willington.
Our sponsors are represented by Jouni Utriainen (Supercell), Stephen Jarrett (King) and Jeff Huang (Tencent).
There are also “old friends” of the IMGA like Jeff Scott, Alex Bubb, Chris James, Nizar Romdhane, Tommy Palm, Alexander Ekvall and Jean-François Royer. And of course, Joony Koo is again this year the voice and the chairman of the judging session.
